During Arthur Godfrey's illness in 1946, Hawks was host of Godfrey's shows on CBS. For several years before he retired, he was associated with The R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.

Spoiler : Hawk, Bob (birth name was Robert M. Hawk) Born in Creston, Iowa 12/15/1907; died 7/4/1989 in Laguna Hills, California. Educated at Southwestern College in Oklahoma, Bush Conservatory in Chicago and Horner Conservatory in Kansas. He began his career as a teacher, but his mother encouraged him to become an actor, and in 1926 he began a broadcasting career reading poetry on a Chicago station. Shortly he became an announcer on Chicago radio stations of WBBM; WCFL; WJJD. In 1931, he was host of a local record program called Red Hot and Lowdown.
