Fiction writer of more than seventy novels; sold over three hundred million copies beginning in 1929 with The Mysterious Affair At Styles (pseudonym Mary Westmacott). Christie's stories have been dramatized on radio, stage, film and television. Her Hercule Poirot character was adapted to radio on the Mutual and CBS Radio Network series (1945-1947). Christie personally personally introduced the debut of the pro- gram by shortwave radio from London 2/22/1945.
