Featuring the complete existing NBC-BLUE and ABC radio series that was broadcast from 1943 to 1946. The program originally featured Paul Whiteman's music, with guest stars and a drama sponsored by Philco. During the summer of 1944 and 1945, the program was called The Philco Summer Hour. The programs were produced by the entertainment newspaper, Variety in New York. OTR John Dunning claims the program was kind of a weekly Academy Awards of radio, with those judged worthy for the broadcast week with the original movie stars revising their roles for the hour long program(s).
