Spoiler : "The Clock Strikes Eight" is the complete performance of Suspense' "The Hangman Won't Wait" of which only the first half of the show exists. John Dickson Carr had great influence on the early broadcasts of Suspense in the first episodes of the series in Summer, 1942. There are very few "Appointment With Fear" episodes existing -- I know UK OTR fans are always searching for them. Some of Carr's early scripts were compiled into a book 'The Door to Doom and other Detections'

What I found odd was the opening music is the same as Suspense and is hosted by The Man In Black. Add to this a commercial return intro music which was the theme for escape. The show ends with the host and closes with unknown music.

Spoiler : I have been a fan of Valentine Dyall since I saw him in the film, "The City Of The Dead," (American title, "Horror Hotel") in the mid-1960's. His voice was perfect for the narration of suspenseful and frightening stories. I am glad I found a few episodes of "Appointment With Fear," the British version of "Suspense!" on the Internet, (Or vice-versa, I don't know which), two of the best radio shows. Now, I would like to hear the African-American actor, James-Earl Jones, whose voice is very similar to Mr. Dyalls' voice, narrating suspenseful radio shows, or audio books. (I know Mr. Jones has been narrating Bible stories in recent years, but I haven't had the opportunity to hear any of them.) Nevertheless, Mr. Dyall's voice send shivers down the spine when he narrates. It's wonderful to listen to. And Mr. Jones' voice is very similar.
