|Plot||:||+ The case of the Copper Beeches began as so often with a letter which made Holmes want to laugh at first. It was from a Miss Violet Hunter who was offered a position as governess and wished for Sherlock Holmes’ advice as to whether or not to take it, but soon he was to take it seriously... Sherlock Holmes is beginning to think that there are no good criminals left or cases for him to solve. Then he receives a visit from a governess named Violet Hunter who is unsure whether to accept a position she has been offered by a Mr Roocastle who lives at Copper Beeches. There are some unusual conditions to her employment but the offer of £120 per annum is very attractive to her. However Sherlock is sceptical as to why Roocastle would offer Miss Hunter so much money when a number of other applicants would accept the position for £40.|
