Spoiler : This series was first heard in 1934 on WTAR-Norfolk Virginia, then WBAL in Baltimore, later by WLW in Chicago. From 1937 the program was originating from WKRC-Cincinnati, and was broadcast by Mutual until 1950. By the end of the series, Scribner was playing some twenty-two roles on the program, and he was the only actor on the series. The announcer was Don McCall. Producer was J.C. Lewis. Sound effects were provided by Tom Hanley and Art Sorrence. Floyd Christy helped Scribner write the programs. Themes were "Listen to the Mockingbird," and "The Whistler and His Dog." The program featured Scribner providing all of the negro dialect voices for a complete village. The series was very popular in the rural South, including rural blacks. In 1947, Radio Life reported that Scribner "guides his characters in and out of rapid conversations in almost unbelievable fashion."
