Grey was a dentist; baseball player; record holding deep-sea angler. His novel, "Riders of the Purple Sage" was the first of 37 novels he wrote, selling over 15 million copies before his death. The Zane Grey Show was on Mutual-Radio (1947- 1947). Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theater on CBS-TV (1956-1962) was mostly com- prised of adaptions of Grey's short stories and novels.
