Born in Hartford, Connecticut 7/24/1853; died 4/29/1937 of a pulmonary hemorrhage in Hartford, Connecticut. Actor-director-playwrighter (1875-1936). Famous for playing Sherlock Holmes on stage and was the first to play Holmes on the NBC-Radio series (10/20/1930).
