Ford, Whitey (birth name was Benjamin Ford, aka Duke Ford) Born in DeSoto, Missouri 5/12/1901; died 6/20/1986 in Tennessee. He was raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. He joined the US Navy in 1918, following his discharge he toured the vaudeville circuit with Otto Gray's Oklahoma Cowboys. He began his radio career in 1925 performing with his own band on KTHS-Hot Springs, Arkansas, then moved to Chicago.

Appeared as the Duke on radio programs including The Renfro Valley Barn Dance during the 1930's and 1940's; The Grand Ole' Opry for NBC (1943-1947). Host of radio programs including Plantation Party on Mutual and NBC (1938-1943); The Duke Of Paducah And Opry Songs on NBC (1952). Ford always closed his performances with, "I'm goin' back to the wagon, these shoes are a killin' me."
