Spoiler : Lewis, Ted (birth name was Theodore Leopold Friedman) Born in Circleville, Ohio 6/6/1891; died 8/25/1971 of a heart attack in New York City. Married to former dancer Ada Baker (1922-1971 his death). Lewis entertained in burlesque, vaudeville and night clubs beginning in 1906. He formed his band in 1916, and became known for his recordings of "Tiger Rag" and "St. Louis Blues" which sold in the millions. Lewis is also remembered for his pharse, Is everybody happy? on radio. Appeared on screen in the 1929 and 1943 movies titled, Is Everybody Happy?

Spoiler : Lewis was heard on many band remotes from the late 1920s to the early 1950s. Host of The Ted Lewis Show, a syndicated radio program of thirty nine programs (1947-1948).
