Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 5/20/1899; died 6/26/1987 of a stroke that was complicated by diabetes in New York. Lomax graduated from Cornell where he was a member of both grid squads. Served in the Royal Air Force during WWI. Sportswriter for the Bronx Home News (1923-1927).

Radio debut on on WOR-New York in 1930, he was the station's first sportscaster. Lomax was credited by the U.S. Treasury Department for selling over a million dollars in War Savings Bonds during WWII. In 1947 it was reported by Radio Mirror that Lomax had provided over 6,000 broadcasts. Sports commentator on WOR (1930-1977). Host of Hit That Ball on Mutual-Radio (1939). After leaving WOR-Mutual in 1977, he broadcast on New York stations WBAI and WNYC. In 1981 he returned to WOR.
