Ballew, Smith Born in Palestine, Texas 1/21/1902; died 5/2/1984 in Longview, Texas. This 6 foot, 5 inch baritone was an early Hollywood singing cowboy before being rated among the top ten Western stars of 1938. Vocalist on The Ipan Troubadors for NBC-Radio (1928-1929). Host of Shell Chateau on NBC-Radio (1937). In the late 1940's quit show-business to become an executive with aircraft companies located in Texas and California.
