Spoiler : Sam Buffington was also in Luke Slaughter of Tombstone, which ran for about a year on television. The Radio show was well received, but as the show had so much competition in 1958 that although it received very good reviews, only had about a year's run. Television was also taking over any such market that had previously been the case during the Golden Age of Radio. The entire series is available through Radio Archives out of Spokane, Washington and has been completely restored back to the crystal clarity of when the shows initially were broadcast on radio.

Spoiler : In my previous comment I need to make 2 clarifications. Luke Slaughter of Tombstone was on Radio not television. Also, Sam Buffington had the lead role of Luke Slaughter and played it very well. The show seems to be a forgotten radio show. It was written by Norman MacDonald one of radios great writers and was on CBS. The Show should have had a longer run and maybe even transferred to television, but the Western show competition was great during that time period with so many Westerns including Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel and many others. Had Luke Slaughter of Tombstone aired on radio earlier, the show may have had a better chance.
