Spoiler : Born in Troy, New York 2/5/1928; died 10/1/2000 of colon cancer at his home in Quogue, New York. Allen passed up an engineering scholarship to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1945 to become a musician. He began playing jazz piano in New York clubs, then became a music composer in 1952 before he began working on television shows. Allen coloborated with lyricist Al Stillman on tunes including Chances Are; It's Not For Me To Say; Home For The Holidays.

Spoiler : Allen composed the theme for Rod Brown Of The Rocket Rangers on CBS-TV (1953-1954). Composer of tunes for television series including, A Very Special Love for Playhouse 90 on CBS (1956-1960); "You Are Never Far From Me," the closing song for Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall on NBC (1959-1963); "Sing Along" for Mitch Miller's Sing Along With Mitch on NBC (1961-1964).

Spoiler : Born in Latonia, Kentucky 7/14/1900; committed suicide on 2/23/1981. Allen was working for the Christian Science Monitor in Washington, D.C. when he formed a working friendship with commentator Drew Pearson. In 1931, Allen and Pearson wrote the behind the scenes political book, "Washington Merry-Go-Round. Allen and Pearson appeared on radio programs including Washington Merry-Go-Round for Mutual (1935-1936), again for NBC-BLUE replacing quiz show True or False (1940); Listen America for Mutual (1939); News of the World for NBC (1940); Capitol Carosel (1941-1942).

Spoiler : Allen served as a colonel with General George Patton's Third Army in Europe during WWII, losing his right arm. Following his return from WWII service, Allen was a news commentator for Mutual Radio (1948-1949).
