Nichols, Red (birth name was Ernest Loring Nichols) Born in Ogden, Utah 5/8/1905; died 6/28/1965 of a heart attack in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nichols was the son of a Mormon Bishop. Married to Vanities dancer Barbara Meredith (?-?). Nichols was educated at the Culver Military Academy and began his career as a cornetist in dance bands. Later he moved to New York where he led bands for Broadway plays of Strike Up The Band and Girl Crazy.
