He began his broadcasting career in 1927 at WEBC-Duluth, Minnesota where he originated a program called the Early Risers Club, which lasted many years after his departure from the station. Then he traveled south to KSTP-St Paul, Minneosta where he became a popular announcer. In 1930, he traveled to Chicago, Illinois, where he became a staff announcer at WGN (1930-1962). His first announcing job at WGN was for The Harold Teen Club, then continued on to announce for programs including Little Orphan Annie on WGN, NBC and Mutual (1930-1940); The Romance of Helen Trent (1933-?); The Couple Next Door on WGN (1937); the NBC and Mutual soap, The Carters Of Elm Street (1939-1940); Captain Midnight (1940-1949); How's The Family (1953). Announcer for television programs including Captain Midnight on CBS (1954-1956).
