Spoiler : Mike Moser (William John Moser) Born Spokane, Washington, October 12, 1915 Died Los Angeles, California, April 23, 1953 Age 37 (struck by a car when walking) Most of the people on this list have many credits but Mike Moser (how did he get Mike out of his birth name, William John Moser?) only has one. He originally went to Hollywood in 1936 to work as a screenwriter. During World War II, he was a pilot in the US Navy. Using the GI Bill, he earned a degree in literature and philosophy from Gonzaga University (in his home town of Spokane) and had something to fall back on should he had failed at screenwriting again. But almost as soon as he came, he was a success, having created the TV show Space Patrol in 1950 for local Los Angeles ABC-TV station KECA-TV (now KABC-TV). It started locally and spread through the network. Because not every part of the United States was covered by television, he started a radio version of the show in 1952. At first both shows were done live on Saturday. Both used the same casts with the radio show being done just before dinnertime and the TV show in the evening. The shows did not have the same story. Some of the older TV shows are often offered as "rare radio shows." They do work well in that way. After Mike's tragic death (at such a young age) his wife Helen took over as producer.
