The Sister's father was William King Driggs, a vaudevillian who started the King Family's music tradition in 1921. The birth name was Driggs. Alyce, Maxine and Louise began their career, as a part of The Boswell Sisters vocal group before teaming with their sisters Donna and Yvonne to form The King Sisters vocal group.

The King Sisters were guests, or regular performers on radio programs including The Horace Heidt Show (Horace Heidt's Alemite Brigadeers) for CBS (1936-1938); Kay Kyser's Kollege Of Musical Knowledge for NBC (1938-1948); Al Pearce And His Gang for CBS (1939); The Gene Autry Show for CBS (1940-1956).

The King Sisters had retired by 1960, but restarted their careers after they guest starred on ABC-TV's Hollywood Palace in 1964. That guest appearance led to their own show the following season, "The King Family Show" on ABC-TV (1965-1966) featuring the whole family of thirty-seven members. Yvonne and Luise were the executive producer's of The King Family summer replacement show for ABC-TV in 1969.
