Born in Vevay, Indiana 9/20/1897; died 1/16/1971 of a heart attack in Hollywood, California. Brother of western star Ken Maynard (1895-1973). Maynard began his career working at the Hormel Packing Company in Austin, Minnesota as a claim agent for four years before moving to Hollywood. Champion Rodeo Trick and Fancy Rider winner in 1933. On screen in The Fighting Trooper (1934); Golden Girl (1951). Host of The Saturday Roundup for NBC-TV (1951).
