June Lockhart's career in Old Time Radio (OTR) was limited in scope compared to her massive success in film and, later, in classic television. While she is best known for her iconic TV roles as a maternal figure in Lassie and Lost in Space, her radio work primarily consisted of guest appearances on major anthology programs. She lent her talents to notable series of the era, including the mystery/thriller show Suspense (episode "Shooting Star"), the dramatic series Lux Radio Theater and Cavalcade of America, and the later Sears Radio Theater. It is worth noting that her parents, Gene and Kathleen Lockhart, were also actors who had a more prolific presence in the Golden Age of Radio. Some years ago, Some friends and I were privileged to be guests in this lovely lady's home. We were treated to wonderful Hollywood stories and hilarious recollections of her time on "Lost in Space." She is so sharp and witty, and very gracious, as you might expect. I also greatly admired her father, the fine character actor, Gene Lockhart. She was so happy to hear that, and she shared a very sweet letter that he wrote to her before she appeared in her first film. It was filled with loving advice and wisdom. It was a very special gift that she always cherished. She loved her parents very much! And we loved her for such a wonderful evening! Happy Birthday, sweet lady, and thanks for the memories!

She also provided the voice of Aladdin's mother in "Aladdin And The Magic Lamp" (82) and appeared in the film version of "Lost In Space" (98).
