Born in St. Louis, Missouri 12/1/1914; died 1/6/1996 of a heart attack at his Cape Coral, Florida home. Married and divorced Dorothy Marubio (?-?); actress Kathryn Grayson (1947-1951); Jacquelyn Sheresky Unger (1961-1965). Known for singing, and was nicknamed, "That Old Black Magic" singer. Johnston began his career as a vocalist with Art Kassel's Castles In The Air orchestra sometime in the 1930's. Signed with Capitol Records (1942).
