Spoiler : Born in Lynn, Massachusetts; died 5/28/1998 at age 81 in his Oceanside, New York home. Jazz clarinetist-saxophonist that joined the Tommy Dorsey band in 1936, then with bands of Bunny Berigan and Fred Waring. Featured on radio programs with those groups until he joined the U.S. Navy during WWII. Following the war was featured at the Eddie Condon Manhattan club. CBS and NBC Radio Network staff musician. Became director of jazz studies at the Adelphi Uni- versity in 1977; formed the Nassau Neophonic Youth Band; directed the Nassau County Jazz Festival.
