Born in Newark, New Jersey; died 10/24/2003 at age 72 of bone cancer at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California. Lee and her divorced mother moved to California when she was twelve years old. Her Hollywood career began in the late 1950s when she received roles on television after taking acting classes. A serious auto accident caused her to reevaluate her career, so she became a writer. Her autobiography, A Difficult Woman in Hollywood was published in 1999.
