Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 3/17/1902; died 6/4/1959. Greir was a member of several bands before forming his own group in 1931. Clarinet and saxophone player that led his band at the Los Angeles Hotel Biltmore's Cocoanut Grove during the 1930's. Recording artist on Brunswick and Decca record labels. On screen in Transatlantic Merry-Go-Round (1934); Nobody's Baby (1937).

The Jimmie Grier Orchestra provided music for radio programs including The Jack Benny Program on NBC West Coast (1934); The Joe Penner Show on CBS (1936-1939); Fibber McGee And Molly on NBC (1937). During WWII, he led the US Coast Guard Band, then after the war, he led a combo briefly, and was a radio disc jockey before he became a real estate agent.
