Adams, Jane "Poni" (birth name was Betty Jane Bierce) Born in San Antonio, Texas 8/7/1921. Adams was married briefly to a Navy pilot during WWII until he was killed in action, then was married to Tom Turnage (1945-2000 his death). Turnage was a Major General with the Army who earned the Distinguished Service Medal and Bronze Star. Turnage was the head of the Veteran's Administration during the Ronald Reagan Presidential years, the last VA head, as that post became a cabinet department.

Adams moved to California as a child with her family. She turned down a full scholarship to study violin at Juilliard, to spend four years studying acting at the Pasadena Playhouse. She began her acting career in the early 1940s on CBS Radio programs of Lux Radio Theater and the Whistler. MC's assistant on Darts for Dough for ABC-Radio (1944-1947).

She was a model, for the Harry Conover Modeling Agency before being discovered for pictures.

Universal supposedly nicknamed her "Poni" because of her horseback riding abilities, but the truth was she was given that name while working as a model for Conover.

Screen debut playing an uncredited bit role in So You Want to Give Up Smoking? (1942). Best remembered as Nina, the sympathetic hunchbacked nurse in House of Dracula (1945). She continued to act in movies making her last movie playing Peggy in Secret of Outlaw Flats (1953). From 1950 to 1953 she was a character actress on TV. After her husband returned from serving in the Korean War, she retired from acting.
