Spoiler : Peerce, Jan (birth name was Jacob Pinkus Perelmuth) Born in New York City 6/3/1904; died 12/15/1984 in New Rochelle, New York. He had been in a coma since January of 1983 due to a series of strokes. Married to Alice Kalmanowitz (?-?). Father of screen director Larry Peerce. He was attended college to be a doctor, but gave it up to be a tenor vocalist, violinist and orchestra leader. He was discovered in 1932 by Samuel "Roxy" Rothafel who hire him to sing at The Radio City Music Hall. Recording artist on the RCA Victor record label, as was a distinguished member of the Metropolitan Opera Company. In 1948, he crossed from classical music to pop music with his recording of Bluebird of Happiness.
