(birth name was Jan Augustoff) Born in New York City ca 1904; died 1/17/1976 at age 71. Pianist and band leader, was a member of bands including Joe Moss; Ferde Grofe; Paul Specht and Paul Whiteman before forming his own group. His band was heard on many band remotes in the 1940s. The Jan August Show was sponsored by Revere Cameras on Mutual-Radio (1947-1948).
