Married and divorced to Natalie Draper (?-1964). At age fifteen was a writer of shipping news for a local Perth, Australia newspaper. At age twenty moved to Hollywood, California and sold articles to London news- papers. Beginning in 1936 was The London Daily Mirror's Hollywood correspon- dent. Goff became a screenwriter with 1941's Gambling Daughters; served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp during WWII where he met fellow writer Ben Roberts; Goff and Roberts formed a team that lasted for 39 years until Roberts died in the middle 1980's. The team's first writing effort was the 1947 play, "Portrait In Black." Team wrote screenplays including White Heat (1949); team nominated for an Academy Award for writing Man Of A Thousand Faces (1957). Goff was the president of the screen writers council of the Screen Writers Guild, prede- cessor of the Writers Guild of America (1954-1955). Team of Goff and Roberts turned their efforts toward television in the early 1960's, writing for The Rogues on NBC (1964-1965); producers of Mannix on CBS (1967-1975); created Charlie's Angels on ABC (1976-1981); executive producers of Logan's Run on CBS (1977-1978); creators and excutive producers of Time Express on CBS (1979); executive producers of Nero Wolfe on NBC (1981).
