I never pass Sardis these days that I don’t think of Ira Ashley sitting there at the bar greeting all the many people that he knew who came and went. My husband and I were in television and we knew many people at Sardis in the wonderful old days and Ira was a major figure for everyone . For many years we ate regularly at Sardi’s in the late 60s spent a lot of time in Sardis and I so remember the kind and gentle and lovely man that Ira was.
