Born in Scottdale, Pennsylvania 5/14/1905; died 1/10/1989 in Morgantown, West Virginia. He began a career in news after graducating from high school in 1923.

While reporting for WLS-Chicago on assignment to report on the landing of the dirigible Hindenburg at Lakehurst, New Jersey, he became a part of history for his on-the-scene reporting of the crash of Germany's flagship dirigible on 5/6/1937. Later years, Morrison said that what seemed to be an emotional account, was actually due to smoke which made it almost impossible to breath or see. It was a transcribed event, which was broadcast by transcription the day after the event.

Morrison served in the US Army during WWII, then returned to broadcasting at the end of the war as news director at KQV and WJAS in Pittsburgh, later WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh. He retired in 1967, but was on televison occasionally describing his historic coverage of the Hindenburg disaster.
