Babbit, Harry Born in St. Louis, Missouri 11/3/1913; 4/9/2004 of natural causes in a nursing home located in Aliso Viejo, California. Vocalist of the Big Band era, with a high-baritone voice that began his career as a staff-singer on Mutual-Radio's KWK-St. Louis, Missouri. Vocalist with Kay Kyser's band from 1938 to 1949, regular performer on Kay Kyser's Kollege Of Musical Knowledge for NBC-Radio; Mutual-Radio (1938-1944). Served in the the U.S. Navy during WWII (1944-1946). Vocalist on By Popular Demand on Mutual-Radio (1945-1946). Early morning host of The Second Cup of Coffee on KNX-Los Angeles (1948-1960).

Babbitt retired from show business in 1960 and became the manager of a tennis club in Newport Beach, California for three years, but continued performing at benefits, and festivals with groups including the Freddy Martin and Les Brown Orchestras. Formed the Harry Babbitt and Kay Kyser Orchestra in 1988. Babbit had obtained rights from Kyser's widow to use Kay Kyser's name and arrangements. That group performed until the middle 1990s.

Perhaps I was 6 years old growing up in Inglewood, California...I remember my mom often listening to Harry Babbitt’s morning radio show...
I think he’d often sing that “Happy Wanderer” song...and maybe “School Days” @ back-to-school
