Spoiler : Born in Buffalo, New York 2/15/1905; died 4/23/1986 in Manhattan, New York. Quit school at age fifteen and formed The Snappy Trio. By age twenty-two was in New York City with The Buffalodians band. Composed Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea for Ethel Waters while she was appearing at the Cotton Club in the 1920's. Composer of many ther songs including Stormy Weather, Blues In The Night, The Man That Got Away and probably his most famous, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" for the 1939 movie, "The Wizard Of Oz."
