Born in New York City 9/17/1890; died 3/30/1972 of pneumonia in Miami Beach, Florida. Married to Sadie ? (1915-1966 her death). Heatter began his career as a reporter for Hearst newspapers before he became the well-known radio news reporter and commentator that was nicknamed the voice of doom, the unhappy warrior and the old crier. Heatter always opened his newscasts with, "Ah, yes, theres good news tonight!"

He entered broadcasting in 1932 at WMCA-New York as a news commentator. In 1933 he moved to Mutual as a news commentator, and remained there until 1961. Announcer for The Cavalcade Of America on CBS-Radio (1939). Host of We, the People on CBS-Radio (1937-1941).

On screen in Champagne For Caesar (1950); The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951). Following his retirement from Mutual in 1961, Heatter moved to Miami Beach, Florida where he broadcast a daily newscast on WIOD-Radio, and penned a daily column for The Miami Beach Sun until he suffered a stroke which forced his complete retirement in 1967.
