Spoiler : Roosevelt, Franklin Delano Born in Hyde Park, Dutchess, New York 1/30/1882; died 4/15/1945 of a massive cerebral hemorrhage in Warm Springs, Georgia. Married to Eleanor Roosevelt (1905-1945 his death). At age fourteen he attended the Massachusetts Groton School. He graduated from Harvard with a BA in 1903. He attended the Columbia University Law School until 1907 when he passed New York's law exams. In 1910 he became a New York State Senator; from 1913 to 1920 he was Assistant Secre- tary of the Navy; in 1920 he lost the bid for Vice President of the U.S. with James M. Cox as president; in 1921 he was diagnosed with Poliomyelitis (Polio), soon after lost ability to walk; in 1929 he became Govenor of New York; in 1933, he became the 32nd President of the United States of America. His unpresented election to four terms in office cannot be repeated because of the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.

Spoiler : Beginning 3/12/1933, FDR began broadcasting a radio talk with Americans which was called, a "Fireside Chat," a term coined by Washington CBS newsman, Harry Butcher. The programs were about subjects such as economic affairs, agriculture, later the programs were based on the war in Europe, coal strike, etc. The programs were normally broadcast from the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House. Usually FDR would arrive some 15-minutes before the broadcast, greet the press, then read his prepared speech.
