He played on one episode of The Andy Griffith Show as Luke, a prisoner who befriends Otis while both are locked up in the Mount Pilot jail. In addition, on the episode of Make Room for Daddy that served as the pilot for the Andy Griffith Show, he played the town drunk that locks himself up, a forerunner for the Otis character.

actor FRANK CADY (1915 – 2012), who was born on September 8th. He is best known for his recurring and popular role as storekeeper Sam Drucker in three American television series during the 1960s — Petticoat Junction, Green Acres, and The Beverly Hillbillies — and his earlier role as "Doc Williams" on The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.

Born in Susanville, California 9/8/1915; died in 1992 at age 74 following heart surgery. On stage in England. Served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WWII. Screen debut in Violence (1947). Occasional roles on Gunsmoke for CBS-Radio (1952?-1961?). Doctor Williams on The Adventures of Ozzie And Harriett for CBS-TV (1954-1965). Sam Drucker on Petticoat Junction for CBS-TV (1963-1970) and Green Acres for CBS-TV (1965-1971).
