Spoiler : Dee was the daughter of an Army officer, growing up in Chicago after he was transfered there. Her family returned to Los Angeles in 1929, where as a lark, she began workign in motion picture as an extra. Screen debut with an uncredited role in Words and Music (1929). Last movie was Mister Scoutmaster (1953). Television actress during the early 1950s, then retired.

Spoiler : (birth name was Jean Dee) Born in Los Angeles, California 11/26/1907; died 3/6/2004 in a hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut, where she had been visiting her son, Peter McCrea. Peter said three weeks prior to her death, she suffered a stroke, fell and broke a leg, then died of pneumonia. Married to actor Joel McCrea (1934-1990 his death). In 1934, Dee and McCrea bought a thousand acres of land near Thosand Oaks, California for $14,000. That 1,000 acres grew to some 2,600 acre spread that they whittled down to 300 acres. In 1970 Dee, and husband McCrea were rumored to be worth between fifty and one hundred million dollars. In 1995, the McCrea family donated the ranch to the Conejo Recreation and Park District to be used as a public park.
