Spoiler : Knight, Evelyn (birth name was Evelyn Davis) Born in Reedville, West Virginia 12/31/1917. Died 9/28/2007 of lung cancer at a nursing home in San Jose, California. Married and divorced to Andrew B. Knight (1935-?); Johnny Lehmann (1954- 2000 his death). She began her career singing in Washington nightclubs uning the name of Honey Davis at the age of sixteen. She moved to New York in 1944, where as Evelyn Knight was a headliner in clubs. She released her hit single in 1945, Dance With a Dolly (With a Hole in Her Stocking).

Spoiler : She made her radio debut as an amateur contest winner singing on a local station in Charleston, North Carolina. Shortly afterwards she turned to singing in hotels, on radio, and was very active in WWII USO tours entertaining troops, and for bond tours. Singer on WRC-Washington, D.C., and sang on shortwave radio broadcasts beamed toward South America.

Spoiler : During the 1940s to the 1940s, Knight was a vocalist on radio programs including Club Fifteen; The Falstaff Show; The Tony Martin Show; The Philco Summer Hour; The Powder Box Theater for CBS (1945-1946); The Lanny Ross Show for CBS (1946); Army Recruiting program, Sound Off (1946- 1948); The Texaco Star Theater; Your Singing Secretary (1949).

Spoiler : In the 1950s, she went on tour, appearing in top hotels and nightclubs throughout USA. She made her final hit, My Heart Cries For You, a duet with country singer Red Foley in 1951. She returned to New York in the 1950s, working in the music publishing industry, and received a Star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in 1961. In 1967, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she lived in obscurity.
