Born in Racine, Wisconsin ca 1911; died 6/15/1984 at age 73 of pneumonia. He began his career in journalism as an office boy with The Los Angeles Record, rising to become city editor for the newspaper. Beginning in the late 1930s, he began writing a column which eventually was syndicated in several hundred newspapers.

Panelist on Let's Talk Hollywood for NBC-Radio (1948). During the later years of his life, Johnson ran a restaurant in California.
