Born in Ontario, Canada 8/22/1879; died 4/20/1959. He was educated at The University of Toronto, then became an operatic tenor and impresario that sang in Italy, America and Canada. He joined the Metropolitan Opera in 1922, and in 1935 he became its general manager.
