Born in Atlanta, Georgia 1/12/1892; died 7/24/1955. He was the son of a preacher. Host of Smilin' Ed's Buster Brown Gang on NBC-Radio (1944-1953); NBC-TV (1950-1955). McConnell played Smilin' Ed, Froggy the gremlin, Tige the dog, Squeekie the mouse, Midnight the car and Grandie the piano on program.
