Comments

Born in Quoque, New York 1/10/1916; died 3/27/1977 of a heart attack. Gardiner began his radio career as a page for NBC. Later he was hired as an announcer at WAIR-Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and by 1938 was chief announcer at the station, then shortly moved to WRC-Washington, D.C. In 1942, he moved to New York as an announcer for NBC-BLUE.

Incorrect. Don was born in Yonkers, NY and died at his weekend home in Quoque, NY (Long Island). Don was the long-time voice of ABC Radio News from the 50s into the 70s, reporting on the shooting of JFK several minutes before the other networks, and staying on air for an hour until the President's death was confirmed.
