Spoiler : Born in New York City 7/5/1908; died 7/22/1998 of heart failure at the Roslyn, New York St. Francis Hospital. He began his career as a sportswriter for The Morning World. Dunphy began his radio career broadcasting football and minor league baseball and boxing in 1935 at WHOM-Jersey City, then WINS-New York in 1936. Dunphy became famous for his blow-by-blow boxing Friday night fights on radio sponsored by Gillette (1941-1960). Dumphy's first broadcast of a title fight was the 1941 Joe Louis vs Billy Conn.
