Spoiler : Jurgens, Dick (birth name was Richard Henry Jergens) Born 1/9/1910; died 10/5/1995 of cancer in Sacramento, California. He was a trumpet player at age fourteen. Attended the University of California. He formed his Dick Jurgens Orchestra in 1925, which performed at hotels and clubs including San Francisco's Saint Francis Hotel, and Chicago's Aragon Ballroom. Composer of many tunes including Elmer's Tune, Careless and One Dozen Roses. Recording artist on record labels including Columbia, Decca, Okeh and Vocalion. Served in the Marine Corp during WWII.

Spoiler : Dick Jergens and his band were featured on radio programs including band remotes during the 1930s and 1940s, and Summer Spotlight Revue sponsored by Coca-Cola for CBS-Radio (1948); syndicated AFRS series, The U.S. Treasury Department (1953-1954). With the decline of big bands in the 1950s, Jurgens went into real estate.
