Spoiler : Born in Alexandria, Virginia 8/24/1903; died 2/19/1984 following several years of ill health at a nursing home he had resided at for three years. After attending Howard University, he began a career in music as an arranger, bandleader and jazz pianist. During the 1920s, he toured Europe backing vocalist Josephine Baker. In 1930, he took over Charlie Skeets band, and using Harlem, New York as their home, they performed in clubs, theaters, on radio and on records. On radio in many remotes during the 1930s and 1940s, and was featured on Let's Go Night Clubbing broadcast from the New York City Club Zanzibar on NBC (1943-1946).

Spoiler : Hopkins broke his band up in the late 1940s, and concentrated on arranging for bands of Abe Lyman; Phil Spitalny; Tommy Tucker. During the 1950s and 1960s, he worked as a piano player played in a few combos. Composer of tumes including I Would Do Anything For You.
