Spoiler : Born in Custer, Kentucky; died 12/24/2002 of complications from multiple strokes in Palm Springs, California. Maxwell served as a Medic in the Navy during WWII, participating in the D-Day invasion. He earned a bachelor's degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He began his radio career in Detroit, and was a regular performer on The Lone Ranger for WXYZ-Detroit and the Mutual, NBC-BLUE and ABC Radio Networks during the late 1940s. Maxwell became a well- known disk jockey in Detroit at WJLB and WWJ, and for those stations his radio programs included "Platter Chatter" and "Maxwell and the Music." In the early 1960s he moved to New York, hosting "The Bob Maxwell" Show and "College Quiz Show" on WCBS. Later worked for WABC. Moved to Los Angeles in 1981.
