Spoiler : (birth name was Robert Alen Rebhun) Born in Allendale, Ohio 6/17/1913; died 4/24/1989 of cancer. Allen was a singer with Hal Kemp's band beginning in the late 1930's. When Kemp died in 1940, Allen took over as leader of the band. Allen was a featured singer on radio band remotes with the Kemp band on programs including Music From Hollywood for CBS in 1937. In 1944, he joined Tommy Dorsey's band, appearing with that band on radio programs including All-Time Hit Parade. In 1945, he enlisted to serve in the US armed forces during WWII.
