Spoiler : O'Connor, Bill (Jerome William O'Connor) Died 1/18/2003 at age 79 of cancer at a hospital in Richmond, Virginia. Grew up in Pennsylvania and Miami listening to The Lone Ranger, then studied broad- casting at the University of Alabama and the University of Miami before he dropped out to join the Navy during WWII, serving as an editor for a newspaper at a Florida military base. In 1945 O'Connor began working as a broadcaster at WLS-Chicago announcing for at least a dozen radio programs. At one time he was a commentator for the Chicago Bears, and appeared in television commercials for Admiral Television, Tavern Pale Beer, Libby Furniture Company and Polk Brothers. Member of the Buccaneers vocal group on The National Barn Dance for WLS-Chicago (?-?). One of several announcers for The Silver Eagle on ABC-Radio (1951-1955). During the 1960s O'Connor bought at least seven radio stations in the Midwest, and was co-owner, later general manager for WCTV in Chicago. He retired in 1982, settling in Richmond, Virginia until his death.
