Born near Mill Springs, Missouri 8/16/1868; died 10/12/1955 of juandice brought on as a result of fasting. In 1924, he entered publishing when he founded The New York Evening Graphic, and MacFadden Publishing Company which circulated magazines including Liberty; Physical Culture; True Confession; True Detective Mysteries; True Romance; True Story.

MacFadden was host of a WOR-Mutual-New York exercise program beginning in 1925, and he was also the host of The Bernarr MacFadden Hour on Mutual (1936). Many of his publications sponsored programs on radio including True Romance for CBS (1929-1930); True Detective Mysteries for CBS and Mutual (1929-1959) ; The Liberty Magazine Hour for CBS (1931); True Story Hour for NBC (1932); True Confessions for NBC (1944-1958).

Michael

In 1941 he sold his publishing company and bought interest in a Military Academy and built The Physical Culture Hotel. To his death, he still played tennis, flew his own airplane and made parachute jumps.
