Born in New York City 12/19/1919. Married to Lois-Nancy Mars (1941-?). Was a pre-med student at Columbia, earned a degree in aeronautical engineering at Curtis-Wright Technical Institute. During the 1940s he taught calculus and airplane structure at Curtiss-Wright, and was a stress analyst at Howard Hughes' aircraft plant.
