Born in Chicago, Illinois 6/22/1903; died 6/7/1971 of suicide by hanging himself in Palm Springs, California. It has been stated that financial difficulties led to his suicide. Pollack was a drummer with the New Orleans Rhythm Kings (1922-1924). He formed his Park Central Orchestra in 1925.

The Ben Pollack Orchestra became regulars at the Park Central Hotel in New York City (the site of many famous radio band remotes from the 1930's until the 1940's. Pollack semi-retired from bandleading in 1942 to start a talent agency and recording company, which neither business was a success. Later years he owned a restaurant on Hollywood's Sunset Strip.
